Are Your Songs Ready?
Has your song been mixed and mastered? If not, you might want to think about having this done before running a campaign. These important steps make sure that every part of your song is heard clearly and sounds professional. Media professionals receive hundreds of emails a day pitching new music and if your track is not mixed and mastered, it will sound unfinished compared to other songs.
You can also go to your favorite music site, stream the last three songs that they’ve covered, and then stream your song. How does your song compare? Does it sound quieter, or not quite polished compared to the other songs? If so, this is a sure sign that you should get your song mixed and mastered before sending a campaign.
Are You Targeting The Right Lists?
HAULIX+ contacts are organized into lists based on location and genre of interest. This means that if a contact is in our Metal list, it’s because they’ve indicated that they want to receive new metal music. Because our contacts choose their genre preferences, it’s even more important to make sure you’re targeting the correct genre list.
For example, if you have a metal song with poppy vocals, you could send it to a metal list, but sending it to a pop list may not make sense. Our pop contacts have expressed interest in pop music and in this example, the song is not a pop song even though it has poppy elements. If you’re unsure of which list is right for you, a HAULIX team member can provide list suggestions.
Do You Have Assets?
While the two above points are the most important to have before sending a HAULIX+ campaign, it is also helpful to have assets. This includes photos, release cover art, social links, and optionally, a bio, press release, and/or video links. This helps your campaign look on par with industry campaigns.
